Stephen Gradwohl, MD, MSCI, MSACI is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Clinical Informaticist, and Attending Pediatric Emergency Physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. His work sits at the intersection of frontline care, informatics, and emerging AI, with a focus on building thoughtful, practical solutions that fit real clinical workflows. He has led and contributed to initiatives in EHR-integrated decision support, SMART on FHIR interoperability, antimicrobial stewardship, pragmatic evaluation, and the use of generative AI to support education, reasoning, and care delivery. Dr. Gradwohl is particularly interested in pushing informatics beyond traditional tools toward more adaptive, context-aware systems that help clinicians navigate complexity, surface the right support at the right moment, and translate innovation into everyday practice. He values collaboration across clinicians, researchers, developers, and operational leaders to design solutions that are not only technically strong, but useful, usable, and grounded in the realities of patient care.
